Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain is ready to abandon Rolls-Royce limousines

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain is ready to transfer from British Rolls-Royce limousines to hybrid Japanese Toyota Prius cars in order to save the environment. Thus, the British queen, by her personal example, supports unprecedented state projects to improve the country's ecology.

Buckingham Palace has already held a number of consultations with the leadership of the Japanese Toyota on the creation of a special modification of the Japanese Toyota Prius for Elizabeth II. In October, the Japanese are expected to unveil the Queen's first such eco-friendly limousine at her Scottish residence, Balmoral, where Elizabeth II intends to take her vacation. After the demonstration of the limousine, the final decision will be made on how many Prius limousines will be purchased for Elizabeth II and at what price. The representative of Buckingham Palace does not exclude that up to 10 new Toyota Prius limousines will be bought for the Queen. There are now 8 government limousines in the royal garage: three Rolls-Royce, three Daimler and two Bentley, as well as several Jaguar, Vauxhall and German Volkswagen cars, as well as buses.

The Japanese Toyota Prius is A "green" hybrid with a dual electric and a conventional gasoline engine.
This hybrid is the most popular in its segment. Prius entered the top 10 cars that, according to Forbes, changed the world. The Prius is the industry's first response to the new green environmental and political agenda of the new century. This car conquered the US market last year with sales of over 155,000 vehicles.Recently, the Toyota concern decided to open in England the production of a budget Toyota Auris hybrid with a gasoline-electric power plant, which will go on sale in 2010.

Elizabeth II's unexpected desire to switch from British and German limousines to Japanese hybrids at Buckingham Palace explain the queen's concern about the changing climate of the earth, as well as her desire to keep up with modern trends.

The whole of Europe is gradually beginning to "green up". But the British government is most active in this matter. In particular, it is making ambitious plans for the transition of the entire population of the country to electric vehicles. At the end of this year, the UK will launch an unprecedented project: ordinary residents of eight regions of the country will be given about 340 electric cars BMW Mini E, Mercedes-Benz Smart E, sports Lightning, as well as Peugeot eExpert Teepee for free for 12 months. In the course of this experiment, the authors of the project want to know how people use electric cars, to study the pros and cons of using it, so that the electric car can be adapted as much as possible to the lives of ordinary people. The UK is sparing £ 25m for this experiment as part of its vehicle emissions reduction program. London Mayor Boris Johnson wants to make London the capital of electric vehicles. He intends to bring 100 thousand electric vehicles to the capital's streets and build infrastructure for such cars, in particular 25 thousand points for charging them, parking lots and shops. According to a Department of Transportation (DfT) study, today around 22% of UK carbon emissions are from transport, of which 13% are from cars. According to the authors of the study, the large-scale introduction of electric vehicles can cut the level of hydrocarbon emissions in half. Thus, Elizabeth II by personal example intends to convince the residents of the country of the need to change to "environmentally friendly" cars - while these are hybrids. However, the emergence of mass and affordable electric vehicles is just around the corner (for more details, see additional material). Environment Above All Environment is a priority for the UK. For example, yesterday the government approved the creation of four eco-cities in the country, writes the Daily Telegraph. According to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, eco-cities will lead the British "green" revolution. In these cities, all constructed buildings (residential and non-residential) will have zero greenhouse gas emissions, residential buildings will be located no more than a 10-minute walk from public transport stops, energy-efficient offices and newest schools, public centers and service enterprises, parks will appear here. and kindergartens. Residents of eco-cities will use alternative energy sources and pay less for it, and move exclusively by electric vehicles. In eco-cities, there will be a restriction on the use of ordinary cars - less than 50% of movements from the city or within the city. All the necessary infrastructure will be created in the "green" cities: filling stations for electric vehicles, houses will be equipped with smart meters, both solar and wind generators. The concept of eco-cities is focused on efficient housing construction and solving the problems associated with climate change. England spares no expense for the Green Revolution. The development of the concept of eco-cities alone cost taxpayers about 3 million pounds.Another 60 million pounds will be allocated for the implementation of the project of four eco-cities, plus additional funds for the development of infrastructure, part of the money must also be invested by developers. By 2020, Britain wants to build up to 10 such cities. However, the public does not always support the "green" ideas of their government. For example, 71% of the residents of adjacent cities are against the creation of the eco-city of Rackheath (one of four) on an unused airfield. Opponents of this idea consider it unviable due to the lack of infrastructure and transport.
